Procrastination

In your head is a voice that says "That homework can wait, let's watch TV.". Every morning when your alarm clock sounds, it says "C'mon, press the snooze button. It won't hurt.". This voice is called Procrastination.

It stems from the more "cave-mannish" section of the brain that strives for instant gratification. It's what makes little kids eat dessert before dinner, or a college kid party all week until cramming the night before finals. More importantly, it's what has made me screw around all winter break until the night before school restarts to do my homework.

You might ask, "Why does this part of our brain even exist?". It just causes stress and anxiety! Well, maybe it's there so people don't become boring. Without our friend procrastination, people would forget about fun and work all the time. Everyone needs to blow work off sometimes and just ski, or see a movie, or read a blog about procrastination...

Not to seem creepy in quoting the Shining, but all work and no play does make Johnny a dull boy.
